Vic Boid teaches a range of pilates classes here at our studio, specialising in high octane power pilates but also offering pre/post natal, orthopaedic and more gentle interpretations of Pilates.
Pilates helps primarily build strength and (as an aside) flexibility of the core and postural muscles. The exercises work on the muscle from origin (near the midline of the body) to insertion (away from the body) and create deep engagement of the major muscle groups. Vic focuses on correcting muscle imbalances and working all opposing muscles, particularly in the tummy and back. The classes are suitable for all levels and fitness abilities as Vic offers progressions and exercise regressions so a class can accommodate a range of abilities. The studio also offers private 1:1 sessions, available on request. Classes are limited to small, technical sessions where attention can be given to each participant.
Pilates is suitable for those returning to fitness, is complementary to existing fitness regimes and can also assist elite athletes in their sport by providing muscular strength and conditioning work and core stability. Those with injuries or recovering from injury will also benefit from including Pilates into their exercise regime.
Vic Boid is a level 3 pilates instructor who is registered with the Register of Exercise professionals.
